EBR Staff Writer Published 31 January 2012

Andritz Hydro has been awarded a contract by the Institute of Electricity of Costa Rica to supply equipment for a 300MW hydro power plant to be built in Costa Rica.

Under the terms of the contract, Andritz Hydro will be responsible for the supply and supervision of the installation of four Francis turbines, generators, and the electrical and mechanical equipment for the Reventazón hydroelectric power project.

Furthermore, the hydropower plant will also contribute considerably to reach the Costa Rican goal to become a carbon neutral country by the next decade.

The four Andritz Hydro Francis units will provide approximately 524,000 households with environmentally-friendly electricity by 2016.
