Hidroelectrica Inaugurates Movileni Hydro Power Plant In Romania

Published: 19-Nov-2009

S.C. Hidroelectrica S.A. (Hidroelectrica) has inaugurated 33 MW Movileni hydro-power plant on Siret river, actmedia.eu reported. The plant has been constructed at an investment of RON650 million in Galati county, Romania. The plant will provide 112.4 GWh of power per year. ISPH SA is the planner for the said project. Energomontaj SA performed the assembly work while UCM Resita SA (west) (energy ones) and PROMPT SA Timisoara (west) (hydro-mechanics) provided equipments for the said project.

"This is the first hydro-power plant drafted after 1989 (...) It is a flag investment for the power production. The entire chain on Siret river will be finalized and it supposes 135 million euros in investments. Beyond the production of energy it contributes to the attainment of two major objective: flood prevention and help for the irrigation sector," Romania's Caretaker Prime Minister Emil Boc said.

Boc further continued that "all it meant production, construction materials, drafting is Romanian". "It means we can perform well, and Hidroelectrica succeeded to value our potential."
