EBR Staff Writer Published 31 January 2012

Maybank has provided a $330.6m term loan for power producer Bajradaya Sentranusa (BDSN) of Indonesia.

Proceeds will be used to take over the entire existing project loans for the construction of the MW Asahan 1 hydroelectric power plant located in North Sumatra, Indonesia.

The ten-year loan facility is segregated into dual-currency conventional tranches of $187.5m and IDR400bn ($44.4m) as well as $100m in an Islamic tranche.

The 2x90hydro plant started commercial operation on 18 January 2011 and the electricity generated is used by export-oriented industries.

BDSN is the independent power producer which builds, owns and operates the Asahan 1 hydroelectric power plant under a 30-year power purchase agreement with Perusahaan Listrik Negara.
